Our 5th graders have officially launched their journey into The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan — and what better way to begin than with a QUEST of their own?🗺️
Today, students set off on an adventure around the school to track down Greek gods, goddesses, creatures, and monsters from the world of Percy Jackson. From powerful Olympians to fearsome mythical beasts, characters were hidden everywhere!
Once students discovered them all, the real challenge began: matching each character to their correct description to create a glossary bookmark — a handy guide to keep track of the fascinating figures Percy encounters on his journey.⚡️

Yearbook orders due by March 27th.

Congratulations to R-II’s first Future City team!
We are so proud of our school’s first Future City team! In their first year competing, the team earned 4th place in the state competition. The team was thrown a huge last-minute curveball when the competition transitioned to a complete virtual setting due to the late January snowstorm. They rallied together and put together a great presentation.
In addition to an impressive ranking, they also received the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Award for outstanding engineering design and problem-solving. We are expecting a visit soon from a few judges and possibly a representative from the Engineering Society. Stay tuned for updates!
Future City is a national STEM competition that challenges students to imagine, design, and build cities of the future. Going along with this year’s theme of Farm to Table, our team researched ways to sustainably produce food and reduce food waste. They wrote a 1500-word essay, produced a scale model depicting their city systems and solutions, created and delivered a 5-minute presentation, and answered questions posed by the judges.
Team participants are Josie Borcherding, Ethan Brune, Maria Groner, Charlie Groppe, Sam Liggett, Kateri Meyer, and Jonathan Nickelson. Way to go, Future City team!!
